Since its inception in early 2009, Parisole Arts has strived to set new standards for manifesting and delivering art by challenging artists and engaging citizens. We continue to be inspired by the value, talent, and dedication our community has to offer. Below are some of our achievements over the past year.
Parisole Hosts Visual Wall Show
Held at Arts Incubator, the wall show focused on visual artists who had little to no exposure in our community with the intention to give them public exposure and marketable skills.
Objective Achievement: Fifteen artists participated free of charge and were given the foundation of confidence and business presence they needed to evolve their career. Several were approached by galleries to host their own shows.
Parisole Sponsors Community Event: Coyote’s Song
Kansas City performance artists educated children and their community about environmental issues through song and dance. The story was developed by a group of children from Operation Breakthrough then taught to a second group of children who auditioned. Each child received a special part in the production and a costume made of recyclable materials and based on an animal. After months of rehearsing, they performed the final dance at Stone Lion Puppet Theatre’s Green Festival in Kansas City. Coyote’s Song received a feature on Fox News.
Objective Achievement: Parisole Arts identified the project needs and provided marketing and fabrication assistance, supplies, a professional photographer for their project, and hosted a promotional event on their behalf, all at no cost. With Parisole’s sponsorship, Coyote’s Song was able to focus on the most important aspect of their project – teaching children to dance.
Parisole Partners with Kansas City Chalk and Walk Festival
In 2010, Parisole returned for its second year to the festival with a proposed theme of Alice in Wonderland. We offered uniform costumed street performing artists (face painters, balloonists, jugglers, roving characters), sponsored a chalk art square created by Wolfe Brack, and gave a free demonstration of our Give a Heart and KidsCRAFT programs.
Objective Achievement: Our programs encouraged over 150 children to create a greeting card for a child at a local charity. Those who made cards received a Kansas City artist-made keepsake in return. Participants enjoyed crafting while learning the joy of using art to benefit someone less fortunate.
Parisole Partners with Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Assoc
Celebrating its 17th annual halloween event for NE Kansas City neighborhood, Parisole Arts joined Scarritt to provide an arts station complete with face painting, mask making, handmade costumes by Kansas City artists, juggling, fire performing, and live music, all free of charge.
Objective Achievement: Parisole’s partnership aided in bringing interactive art to over 7,500 children leaving them with a cherished memory.
