ARTS ABERRATION PROGRAM
Our Arts Aberration Program facilitates interactive educational lessons that engage the student with what we have coined as “connective” art (art that connects emotion and cognitive thinking while expressing ones self). Our programs target the underserved population who have limited accessibility to art, outreach facilities, and those whose art funding has been drastically reduced or eliminated.
Parisole Arts enlists a roster of highly skilled artists who work in conjunction with degreed art therapists (when applicable) to offer educational art courses at various facilities throughout the metropolitan Kansas City area in Missouri and surrounding areas. In addition to our classes, we sponsor and support other community groups of artists whose principles and core lesson plans coincide with our mission.
Healing Art
We provide art therapy to multi-cultural, at-risk communities to promote a healthier mind, body and future. Each session will be tailored to accommodate the children’s mental needs by encompassing development directives such as safety/comfort, feelings, identity, cognition, etc. It is the goal of this program to provide artistic, self-expressive creative processes accompanied by models of counseling and psychotherapy to help students increase insight and judgment, cope better with stress, work through traumatic experiences, increase cognitive abilities, and build better relationships with family and friends.
Art in Action
This program is designed to offer interactive connective-art workshops for all ages. Workshops can be tailored to meet the needs of organizations and our artists come to you. Some examples of art forms are outlined here, however we welcome alternative ideas and can accomodate themes. Art in Action is divided into the following categories:
KidsCRAFTYouth art education is important to Parisole Arts as we recognize it is vital to the mental well being of children. Parisole Arts offers a preview of KidsCRAFT at the Kansas City Chalk and Walk Festival held at Crown Center. An estimated 7,000 attended in 2010. Children who participate in our demonstration learn first hand about the classes we offer and also participate in our Give a Heart program by creating an art project that is donated to a sick or neglected/abused child at a local charity. Afterwards, participants receive a certificate of completion showing where their donation is going and get a complimentary gift handmade by a Kansas City artist – but most importantly, they establish an appreciation for the art of giving. |
